History of the Cluster

The cluster was formally registered on October 6, 2014 as a result of the initiative of the Regional Development Agency Zlatibor and companies that have already cooperated with RDA Zlatibor through the CBC project EUMETAL 2. Even before the official registration of the cluster, cooperation and trust were established among members. a prerequisite and basis for all good business relationships. Through the EUMETAL 2 project, companies have successfully participated in two major international fairs, jointly participated in workshops to build their own capacity, both management and employees, and thus recognized the importance and need to unite and jointly appear in international markets. The cluster was established to improve competitiveness, increase exports and create new jobs. The members recognized that the future of small and medium enterprises from the metal complex lies in connecting and performing together.

To illustrate, it should be mentioned that the broom industry in Serbia faces numerous obstacles for the export of products to neighboring and EU countries. The EU market and products are developing much faster compared to the situation in our country, precisely because of the lack of standardization, knowledge and promotion, cooperation with international organizations, the inability to export the desired quantities of products due to quotas and other obstacles. As an association, ie a cluster, together, companies will manage to compete in the market, strengthen, further develop, perform together at fairs, which can be a great opportunity to establish contacts with potential partners, financial institutions, and certainly a chance for promotion of products and services. The cluster consists of 11 small and medium enterprises from the municipalities of Arilje, Požega and the city of Užice, which is characterized by tradition and experience in the metal industry, and five institutions based on new knowledge.
